Welcome to the Junior League of Albuquerque!
Erin YoungMy name is Erin Young, and it is an honor and thrill for me to serve as the 2007-2008 President of the Junior League of Albuquerque. This is an organization of amazing women who make a positive change in the Albuquerque community and have been for many years.

The Junior League of Albuquerque is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization of women who have been a leading force in improving the lives of women, children and families in the Albuquerque area for over seventy three years. For years the mission of the Junior League of Albuquerque has been that we are an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving our community through the effective action and leadership of our trained volunteers. Because of this commitment we have been a part of several significant projects.

Our current project is the Ronald McDonald Family Room at UNMH, which provides a restful place for family of ill children to read, get a snack, do laundry, or just relax outside of a hospital room. I encourage you to look at the numerous other contributions and collaboration that our Junior League has been a part of.

What sets us apart from other organizations is that not only do we raise funds and awareness for several organizations, but also spend countless hours training our members in several key areas. This is done in hopes that each member will continue to make a difference in the community long after their time in the league as an active member is over.

We have a strong active membership and a very impressive sustainer group. We are also thrilled that each year we have several new members that come in with new ideas and new energy. We welcome new members to join us in volunteering, in fostering friendships, and connecting with the greater Albuquerque. As part of the Association of Junior Leagues International, the Junior League of Albuquerque reaches out to women of all races, religions and national origins who demonstrate an interest in and commitment to voluntarism.

We have also published two amazing cookbooks that are sought out by cooks from all over. The recipes you will find in Simply Simpatico and Taste of Enchantment are delicious.

As the President of the Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to lead this wonderful organization. Please explore our web site to learn more about the Junior League of Albuquerque. If you’re interested in additional details not available online, we’ll be glad to help you find the information or answers to your questions. The new Ronald McDonald Family Room inside Children's Hospital at University of New Mexico.

The Ronald McDonald House has arranged for an 1100 square foot family room in the new wing of the Children’s Hospital. This family area will include a small kitchen stocked with snacks, a laundry facility, and a play area for the siblings of the inpatient children. The Ronald McDonald House estimates that at least 500 families a month will use the family room. MORE >

This project is being funded in large part by the JLA Benefit Golf Tournament, which was held at Tanoan Country Club on September 24, 2007.
