Welcome to the Junior League of Albuquerque!
Erin Young

Founded in 1934, we are an organization of women whose mission is to promote voluntarism, develop the potential of women, and improve the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. As a member of the Association of Junior Leagues International, we are part a women’s movement that began over 100 years ago with our founder, Mary Harriman.  Internationally, we have over 160,000 members in four countries.

I am proud to serve as the 76th President of the Junior League of Albuquerque and am blessed to work with almost 500 women who make up our sustaining, active and new membership.  Our members are dedicated, giving women of all ages, ethnicities, and walks of life who balance the demands of home, family and work but still find the passion to volunteer to make Albuquerque a better community.

Our Albuquerque Legacy began in the 1930s as The Junior Club of Albuquerque with 35 women who saw the potential to better our community.  Early projects included Well Baby Clinics and establishing the Cerebral Palsy Day School and were supported by fundraising events such as The Follies.  This Legacy continues today as we work with community leaders to identify unmet needs in our society.  As an educational and charitable organization, we provide the community with trained volunteers and financial support through our selected Community Impact Projects and other charitable endeavors. Our projects currently include the APS Title I program, which provides assistance, food, and tutoring to the homeless children of the Albuquerque Public School System, and Project Share, an organization providing hot meals six nights per week to the homeless, veterans, working poor and families.  Project Share serves over 60,000 meals per year.  We are honored to work with these organizations and provide them with several hundred hours of volunteer time and over $40,000 in direct financial support.

The Junior League of Albuquerque’s Community Impact Projects are supported by the membership and a generous group of donors, corporations, community partners and friends. Through their participation, sponsorship and attendance at our special events, and the purchase of our cookbooks, Simply Simpatico and Taste of Enchantment, we are able to raise the funds needed to support these projects.
I hope you will browse our website and learn more about our rich history in the Albuquerque community. Perhaps, it will inspire you to make your own difference in our community by either becoming a member of the league, supporting our charitable endeavors, or becoming more involved in the many non profit associations in our area.
Join us in making this a better world for everyone.  See the world with your arms wide open!
